A search is underway for a missing 19-year-old from Mt. Airy. Robert Leon Turpin was last seen by a family member around 7:30 Friday night, Oct. 28th. He was scheduled to leave for work in Jefferson the next morning around 5:30 and was supposed to pick up a co-worker in Maysville on his way. The co-worker says he never showed.
“Our family is worried sick about him,” says his aunt Ashley Webb. “He’s a responsible kid. It’s not like him to not be where he’s supposed to be.”
The family filed a missing persons report with the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and authorities have since issued a lookout.
Turpin is 6′ 4″ tall, weighs 195 pounds and has blonde hair and blue eyes. He wears glasses and has a blue and red yin and yang tattoo on his right shoulder. He always wears shorts and a t-shirt, according to family members.
Turpin drives a black 2001 Ford F150 with silver trim along the baseboard with GA tag # PZY8495.
The family has started a Facebook page called ‘help find Robert Turpin’. They’re asking social media users to share the page to get as many people looking for Robert as possible.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Habersham County Sheriff’s Investigator Heidi Lass or Sgt. Richard Stein. They can be reached through the 24 hour dispatch line at (706) 778-3911.
