GAINESVILLE – The Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) is advising motorists in Hall County of a single lane closure on State Route (SR) 53 West at the bridge over Lake Lanier, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, February 13 and 14, 2016, to accommodate work on painting the bridge.
The left lane of SR 53 West will be closed at this location on Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. each day, to allow for the installation of scaffolding and containment for bridge painting.
This painting operation is part of a bridge rehabilitation project. This project includes the installation of cover plates, spall repair, installation of new bridge joints, application of a new wearing surface, repair/replacement of bearing assemblies, and painting existing superstructure. Work on the project began mid-October 2015. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of June 2016, at a construction cost of $2,942,722.
