There are just some days that I’m excited…excited it’s spring…excited the Farmer’s Market is open now at Clarkesville Mills…excited that StarBucks at Ingles had iced coffee samples…excited about my new chickens (Huevos, Pollo, Ranchero, and Chipotle)…just excited.
So much around us is good. So much around us is promising. So much around us screams hope. Why do we spend the majority of our time focused on what doesn’t excited us and start focusing on what does?
This morning as I watered my veggie plants and flowers before leaving for work, I noticed a squirrel, jumping from tree branch to tree branch. There was urgency in his movement but at the same time, fun. I have no doubt he had somewhere to go; he had a task to perform; he was in work mode; but, he was having a great time doing it.
Shouldn’t we be the same? Consider the detail of every flower God created. Take in the numerous colors which surround us in various hues. Watch the beautiful people who walk around us everyday in their uniqueness. Creativity everywhere! Art in its most precious form saturates our lives and all we have to do is notice it.
Today, get excited about what is good. Take the focus off of what isn’t, even if for a moment. Draw a deep breath of gratitude for a God Who knows you, loves you, and wants to be the center of your life.
Psalm 19:1, “The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.“
