A former Lee Arrendale State Prison corrections officer faces decades in prison after pleading guilty to sexual contact with three inmates.
Cameron Larenzo Cheeks, 25, pleaded guilty in Habersham County Superior Court on Monday, November 4. Cheeks received a 60-year sentence, with 25 years in confinement. He will receive credit for two years served without bond and will spend the remainder of his sentence on probation, according to the Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
The charges stem from incidents in the fall and winter of 2022 while Cheeks was employed as a corrections officer at the state prison in Alto. He was convicted of three counts of first-degree sexual contact by an employee or agent and three counts of violating his oath as a public officer.
Cheeks was initially arrested and charged with rape in December 2022, according to arrest warrants.
Judge Bill Oliver of the Mountain Judicial Circuit presided over the court case. Assistant District Attorneys Meredith Davis and Rosanna Szabo represented the State of Georgia. Special Agents with the Georgia Department of Corrections Criminal Investigation Division conducted the investigation.
