Evelyn Woodruff, age 96, of Gainesville, passed away peacefully early Friday, January 5, 2024, at her son Rodney’s residence.
Evelyn was born September 24, 1927, in Cherokee, Alabama, to the late William & Annie Ruth Langston Gardner. She was a homemaker but was fondly referred to as the “Hat Lady” for the stocking hats she made and sent all over the world for mission trips, schools, the United Way & underprivileged kids. The amazing fact was she never had to buy the first roll of yarn; it was all donated to her to bless others with her work. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Clermont and was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Woodruff, brothers, Howard Gardner, Lester Gardner & Grady Preston Gardner.
Left to cherish precious memories, sons & daughters-in-law, Terry & Cherylin Woodruff, Rodney & Christie Woodruff; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn & Donnie Edge; sister, Francis Vivian Martin; grandchildren, Gene Snipes, Brian (Patrizia) Woodruff, Bradley (Sara) Woodruff, Ashley Morris & Taylor (Natalie) Woodruff; great-grandchildren, Renee Woodruff, Mateo Woodruff, Cameron (Tiffany) Woodruff, Collin Woodruff & Bentley Morris; great-grandchildren, Raelynn Woodruff, Kayden Woodruff & Olivia Pierce; a number of nieces, nephews & other relatives also survive.
