Demorest, GA – Piedmont College baseball player Evan Gresham has done it again making the listing for D3Baseball.com’s National Team of the Week marking the second year in a row that the Lions’ outfielder has earned the accolade. Gresham was one of many Lions lighting it up offensively this past weekend in a three-game sweep of North Carolina Wesleyan College as PC was 4-0 on the week starting off with a 10-1 win over USA South preseason favorite Ferrum College.
Gresham was 11-for-18 in the four-game stretch (.611) scoring seven runs himself while driving in another three as well on the week. A Fayetteville, Georgia native, Gresham also walked three times and stroked three doubles slugging .778.
Gresham picked up three three-hit games in the four before going 2-for-2 in the series finale with NC Wesleyan as all three of the Piedmont outfielder’s walks came in that Sunday afternoon win over the Battling Bishops. Gresham is hitting .375 on the year, 12th best in the USA South conference, and also ranks 8th in the league with his ten walks on the season.
Piedmont’s outfielder was one of two from the USA South selected to the D3Baseball.com National Team of the Week along with Maryville senior Nick Dean.
The Lions will be back in action this weekend with a highly anticipated showdown against Huntingdon College as the two teams are tied atop the USA South standings with identical 11-4 records. The three-game series is set to start Friday, March 13.
