On Oct. 29, the Tallulah Falls School Esports teams competed in their inaugural match.
The team played in League of Legends in their first-ever GHSA contest. The TFS Esports program has two teams of five, the TFS Mushrooms and TILT, that compete against other schools in League of Legends.
The TFS Mushrooms picked up the first Esports win in school history, defeating Colquitt County 2-0. The team consists of freshman Daniel Shin of South Korea, junior Jason Zhou of China, sophomore Rick He of China, junior Justin Yu of South Korea and senior David Cheng of China.
Team TILT, consisting of senior Zhiyang Shu of China, senior Riley Barron of Roswell, freshman Nana Amankwah of Decatur, junior Ben Fisher of Clayton and senior Maik Murenzi of Rwanda, lost an extremely competitive match to Woodward Academy in their first match of the season.
“We are very proud of both teams,” coach Casey Barron said. “They both showed great character and sportsmanship during the matches. Thank you to everyone who has supported us with getting Esports started at TFS!”
TFS Esports plays GHSA matches every Tuesday and Thursday at 4 p.m. The teams play League of Legends on Tuesdays and Rocket League on Thursdays in the student center.
