Erford A. Harrison, age 90, of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023.
Born on June 21, 1933, in Cornelia, he was a son of the late Rubush Harrison and Julia Crocker Harrison Watkins. Mr. Harrison began serving his country in the U.S. Merchant Marines, where he was able to travel the world, and then he was drafted into the U.S. Army. While in the Army, he spent two years in San Juan, Puerto Rico, as a Military Policeman. After his stint in the military, he worked for many years at Habersham Metal Corporation and Steel Cell of North America. He was co-owner of H&W Associates and also dabbled in real estate. Erford had numerous hobbies, including traveling, painting, photography, flying planes, and spending time with his friends. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and Cornelia Masonic Lodge #92 F&AM, having recently received his 60-year apron.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Garrie D. Harrison.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannie Collins (Mike) of Cleveland and Jan Armour (Tim) of Cornelia; grandchildren: Jake Collins (Rachel), Joseph Collins (Hollie), Hunter Armour (Sadie), and Fisher Armour; great-grandchildren: Ezra, Eliza, Samuel, Olive, and Abram; beloved nieces and nephew: Joy White, Ginger Swilley, and Scott Simmons; and numerous other extended relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart, with Chaplain Dr. Adam C. Erwin officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Brother Graylen Armour officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Grant Reeves Veteran’s Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the funeral home.
