Piedmont University women’s lacrosse coach Brooke Thacker has announced the addition of Emilee Heffner to the coaching staff as an assistant with the program. She joins the staff after previously working as the volunteer assistant women’s lacrosse and soccer coach at Oglethorpe University.
“We are so excited to welcome Emilee to our program,” Thacker stated. “I believe Emilee’s experiences as a student-athlete and as a coach have prepared her well to make an immediate, positive impact. I know she will work very well with our players and will help us continue to grow our program. We are so happy to have her.”
Heffner’s experience as a student-athlete comes from her time playing at Oglethorpe University from 2020-2022. During those years, she was one of three captains who assisted the team in having two record-breaking seasons.
The Stormy Petrels posted an 11-5 season during her senior year in 2022, where Heffner started a career-high 14 contests. Scoring two goals that season, she also contributed career-highs in ground balls with 15 while causing 12 turnovers.
“I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the women’s lacrosse program and coaching staff at Piedmont,” Heffner said. “I hope my experiences can help me assist Brooke in continuing to build a successful program.”
As a coach, Heffner brings experience from her time with the Thunderbird Lacrosse program where she was the co-head coach. During her time, she oversaw the growth and development of the players, created weekly practice schedules, and handled game day operations for her team.
Most recently, Heffner served as the volunteer assistant coach at the Oglethorpe in 2022, where she worked directly with the coaching staff in their recruiting, game day operations, travel planning, practice planning, and more.
Heffner graduated from Oglethorpe University in 2021 with a bachelor’s in Psychology and is working on obtaining her master’s in Sports Management from the University of Florida.
