Officials have released the name of the driver killed Thursday in a single-vehicle accident on Rockford Creek Road off of GA 15/US 441 in north Habersham County. Assistant county coroner Ken Franklin identifies him as 41-year-old Justin Kyle Skelton of Clarkesville.
Skelton was driving a red Jeep Wrangler. Georgia State Patrol Trooper C. Campbell with Post 7 in Toccoa says the driver, later identified as Skelton, ran off the road and overcorrected, the vehicle then overturned. Skelton was ejected from the Jeep. Trooper Campbell says there was a car seat in the vehicle which prompted emergency personnel to search to determine if a child was involved. They determined Skelton was the only person in the Jeep. He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to Campbell.
