The Christmas season kicks off in Downtown Clarkesville as Clarkesville Main Street and the Habersham Community Theater (HCT) present Elf: The Movie in the historic theater Friday, November 25th at 7:30PM.
The movie is an endearing comedy for the entire family to enjoy. Buddy (Will Ferrell) was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised to adulthood among Santa’s elves. Unable to shake the feeling that he doesn’t fit in, the adult Buddy travels to New York, in full elf uniform, in search of his real father. As it happens, this is Walter Hobbs (James Caan), a cynical businessman. After a DNA test proves this, Walter reluctantly attempts to start a relationship with the childlike Buddy with increasingly chaotic results.
“We chose the after-Thanksgiving date to allow families (and weary Black Friday shoppers) the opportunity to come downtown to enjoy a fun family experience together,” explained Mary Beth Horton, Clarkesville Main Street Manager. “Plus- it’s the perfect movie to put everyone in the Christmas spirit!”
Alta Moseley with HCT added that costumes are encouraged and prizes will be given for Elf movie trivia. In addition, Elf-inspired concessions will be available for purchase.
Elf concludes Clarkesville Main Street and HCT’s 2016 Movies on Main series. The 2017 series will be announced next month.
Attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets early as seating is limited to the first 100 patrons. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased online at habershamtheater.org or by calling 706-839-1315.
