Fire damaged a Banks County family’s home early Thursday. Investigators say it appears to have been caused by an electrical short in the dryer connection.

At 12:26 a.m., Banks County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a report of a structure fire at 1313 Damascus Road in Homer. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke showing from the single-family residence.

“The fire was located and confined to a rear storage room and back wall,” says Banks County Fire Chief Steve Nichols.

The residents were at home at the time of the fire. Nichols says no one was injured.

The cause of the fire has been listed as accidental. Fire officials could not rule out the dryer connection as the cause.

Nichols says the home sustained moderate damage.
