Erwin wins decisive victory in third redo of House District 28 Republican primary

It took three elections over the course of one year to settle the race, but it appears there’s finally a clear winner in the House District 28 Republican primary.

Chris Erwin claimed 75% of the vote in Tuesday’s special GOP primary. The former Banks County School Superintendent received 4,586 votes districtwide. Dan Gasaway received 1,490 votes, or 25%, according to figures from the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office.

Unofficial returns show Erwin won decisively in all three counties in the district. The district includes part of Habersham and all of Banks and Stephens counties.

Districtwide voter turnout was just over 21% with 6,083 of the district’s 28,598 active registered voters casting ballots.
