There’s a new administrator on the job at Lee Arrendale State Prison in Alton. Carmon Edwards has been named Deputy Warden of Administration effective July 1st.
As Deputy Warden, Edwards will be responsible for overseeing the Business Office, Property/Supply Operations and Food Service departments at the facility which houses over 1,700 medium and close security female offenders.
“Edwards is a dedicated 20-year employee who has excelled in each role she has held with the department,” said Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier in making the announcement. “We are confident that her leadership will be a great asset to Lee Arrendale State Prison.”
With the promotion, Edwards is returning to the facility where she began her GDC career twenty years ago. She started as a Clerk II at Lee Arrendale SP in 1998. During her time at the prison she served as a Correctional Officer, Secretary II, Operations Analysis Technician and Financial Ops Generalist. She was later promoted to the Business Manager at Phillips State Prison, where she has served since 2017.
Edwards received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Thomas University and an associate of applied science degree in Network Administration from North Georgia Technical College.
