Edna Cook Herndon Woods, age 92 from the Mud Creek Community, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
Born in Alto, Georgia on June 28, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Sparta Watson and Fannie Elma Lee Cook.
Mrs. Woods retired as an Executive Secretary with John Hancock Insurance and had previously worked at American Mutual Insurance. She enjoyed bowling, aerobics, and singing with the Silvertones Choir. Mrs. Woods was a member of First Baptist Church in Buford.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Simpson Herndon; her second husband, John Woods; brothers, Homer Cook and Charles Cook; sister, Vera Jordan.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Herndon & Claire Belisle of Atlanta; daughters, Gayle Melton of Duluth, Judy Williamson of Alto; daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie & Dan Rich of Hoschton; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Hargrove Cook and Grady Cook both of Alto; numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 pm, Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Mud Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
