Easter wreck kills man near Clarkesville

Authorities have identified the man killed in an Easter afternoon wreck in Habersham County as 70-year old John A. Woods of Cleveland, Georgia. The accident happened around 1:20pm Sunday, April 5, at the intersection of Hwy. 441/GA 15 and Antioch Church Road.

According to information released by GSP Public Information Officer Franka Young, Woods was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu east on Antioch Church Road when he failed to yield the right of way and struck a van traveling south on Hwy. 441/GA 15. Woods’ car hit the driver’s side door of the van causing his car to rotate several times. The 2014 Chrysler Town & Country van, driven by 46-year old Paul C. Ditomaso of Smyrna traveled south onto the concrete median.

Ditomaso and five passengers in his van were injured and transported to Habersham Medical Center in Demorest. The passengers are identified as 38-year old Peta-Gay Barrett of Smyrna, 24-year old Charlina Barrett, 32-year old Ricardo Barrett, 4-year old Emalee Barrett and 1-year old Jaylen Barrett, all of Gadsden, Alabama.
