(Cleveland)- If early voting is any indication Tuesday’s municipal election in Cleveland and Helen will attract only a small percentage of voters to the polls. Early voting ended Friday and in the city of Cleveland, where two candidates, Shan Ash and Rush Mauney are vying for the mayors position, and according to City Clerk Connie Tracas 140 people cast ballots during the three week period. That’s a small percentage of the 1,300 active registered voters.
Also on the ballot Tuesday, unopposed, are Nan Bowen and Annie Sutton for city council posts.
In the city of Helen there are five candidates; Cinnaiomon Spurlock, Lee Landress, Ronnie Helton and the two incumbents Donna K. Burk and Jeff Ash, seeking two open positions on the commission board. Helen City Clerk Marilyn Chastain advised late Friday that only 42 ballots had been cast, that’s out of the 441 registered voters.
The polls will be open 7am-7 pm Tuesday in both cities. Tracus reminds Cleveland voters, that you will be voting at Cleveland First Baptist Church. Helen voters vote at City Hall.
