Early Voting Ends Friday

This is the last week to vote early in the May 24 primary election. Early/Advanced voting ends Friday, May 20.

Habersham County Election Supervisor Laurel Ellison says, as of noon Monday, 1,958 voters had already cast ballots. That’s 10.5% of the county’s active voters. The figure represents a combined total of Absentee, Early, Saturday and Advanced voters who have cast ballots since voting began on May 2.

Ellison says she expects a strong voter turnout on primary election day. “I expect it to be at least as busy as it normally is for this type of election, being that the majority of local elected officials are on the ballot.” She adds, “We had 40.46% voter turnout in 2012 so I would definitely think we will have at least that amount or possibly up to 45 – 50%.”
