Early morning fire forces Baldwin family from home

A pre-dawn fire partially destroyed a mobile home near the Habersham County Airport on Sunday. The fire broke out inside a residence at 406 Oakland Meadows.

Baldwin firefighters were called to the scene around 1:51 a.m. When they arrived, the family was safe outside of their burning home. Baldwin requested mutual aid from Cornelia, Habersham County, and Lee Arrendale firefighters.

Baldwin and Cornelia Police also responded to the scene.

Officials tell Now Habersham the fire started in a back corner bedroom. They don’t yet know what caused the fire. Crews remained on the scene for nearly two hours extinguishing the flames and hot spots.
