A police pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies ended early this morning Friday, March 21, just north of the U.S. 441 bypass after officers executed a successful PIT maneuver to stop a fleeing vehicle.

The chase, which included officers from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, Demorest Police Department and Cornelia Police Department, concluded with the apprehension of the driver, a 44-year-old woman in a Hyundai Elantra.

Emergency medical personnel evaluated the driver at the scene and found no injuries. She was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Habersham County Jail.

Authorities have not yet disclosed what led to the pursuit or any potential charges against the driver. The incident remains under investigation.
