It proved to be another successful year at the Habersham County E-911 Trick or Treat bash.
The October 19 event, which was held at the Habersham County Fairgrounds, involved numerous agencies and businesses, including the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, local police agencies, Habersham and Hall County fire departments, Habersham Animal Control, El Patron Mexican Restaurant, Bo’Jangles, Circle of Hope, Habersham EMTs and EMS, Georgia Department of Natural Resources and more.
Habersham E-911 Director Lynn Smith headed the efforts to create an event that provided a safe atmosphere for children and families in the community.
In addition to the candy distributed, the event also allowed guests to go through emergency simulators, explore emergency vehicles, rock climbing, dunk tanks, and bounce houses.
“It’s a safe place for kids to come get all the candy they can and have a good time,” says Sheriff Joey Terrell.
Terrell also touched base on safety tips for families planning on trick or treating in the community.
“First off, let’s be safe about it (trick or treating). We don’t want anyone running out in front of traffic, we don’t want anyone to get hurt, and we want everyone to have a safe and fun Halloween.”
Terrell suggests if you spot any suspicious activity or receive tampered candy, please contact your local police department or the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.
Though there are many trick-or-treating events in the county coming up, the official date of Halloween is Tuesday, October 31.
