DEMOREST, Ga. – Piedmont Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Jim Peeples announced this week the hiring of Dustin Meadows as Head Men’s Golf Coach.
Meadows comes to the Lions from St. Andrews University in North Carolina, where he has served as head coach, starting this past June.
‘After an extensive national search, we are very excited to have Dustin Meadows leading our men’s golf program,” said Peeples. “We are thrilled to bring a candidate of Dustin’s caliber to Piedmont to continue building on the success of the program that JP Kircher built.”
“Dustin has tremendous communication and leadership skills that set him apart in our search,” Peeples added. “I am excited for the future of the men’s golf program under his leadership.”
Overall, Meadows is in his sixth season of collegiate coaching, while before that he gained experience in the golf world with seven years as an assistant golf professional at three different courses.
“I’d like to say thank you to President Criser and Athletic Director Jim Peeples for entrusting me with such an amazing program,” Meadows said. “After visiting the campus and talking with all the fabulous people from members of the golf team, the President, those in financial aid, admissions and even fellow coaches, I knew Piedmont University is a special place. It is an honor to stand on the shoulders of JP Kircher and continue to move the program forward in prestige and prominence within the NCAA. I could not be more excited to coach and mold the student-athletes here at Piedmont University.”
Meadows’ coaching journey began in 2008, as an assistant coach at Prince Edward High School from 2008-2011. From there, Meadows worked as an assistant golf professional at Broad Bay Country Club (2012-14), Spring Creek (2013-15) and Poplar Grove Golf Course (2017-19).
His breakthrough into the collegiate coaching ranks came in 2018, where he spent a season as an assistant men’s golf coach at Division I Longwood University, where he helped recruit the largest student-athlete class in program history.
Meadows spent the 2019-20 season as an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s programs at Ottawa University in Arizona, where he helped both the men and women set the program’s scoring average record.
This summer, Meadows was named the head coach at St. Andrews, where he has led the Knight this fall.
Meadows is a veteran of the U.S. Marines, where he served from 2005-2011. In 2016, he earned a B.A. in biblical studies from Amridge University.
He will take over a Lions program that is coming off a national runner-up finish at the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships and will lead the Lions in their fall season finale, the NCAA DIII Preview, held Oct. 29-31 in Boulder City, Nevada.
