Dry, windy weather fuels brush fires in Habersham

The dry, windy weather this weekend contributed to several brush fires in Habersham County.

Firefighters were called to extinguish a fire that got out of control on Holly Circle off Antioch Church Road Saturday afternoon. They successfully contained a 2-acre fire in a wooded residential area.

It was the second brush fire reported in Habersham on Jan. 4. The other occurred at a home on Historic Highway 441 in Clarkesville. The fires broke out within an hour of each other.

The county and much of North Georgia were under a high fire danger alert going into the weekend.
