Two drivers injured in a wreck on Helen’s main thoroughfare Sunday are expected to survive.
The accident happened around midnight on GA 75/North Main Street near the Circle K convenience store.
34-year-old David Earl Dority II of Peachtree Corners and 38-year-old Sadie Nikhoma Johnson of Helen were both injured in the accident, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Dority was traveling southbound on GA 75 in a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt when he ran off the west shoulder of the road, spun out of control and crossed the center line. Johnson was traveling northbound. She attempted to avoid a collision by running off the east shoulder of the road, according to Trooper Ray Dean. The front driver’s side of the 1996 Chevrolet Lumina Johnson was driving struck the front passenger’s side of the Cobalt.
The force of the impact spun the Cobalt so that its rear passenger side then struck the driver’s side of the Lumina.
There were no passengers in the vehicles.
Dority and Johnson were injured and transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Trooper Dean says both are expected to survive.
He says multiple misdemeanor warrants will be sought out of White County for Dority, including Driving Under the Influence and other traffic-related charges.
