Driver charged in wreck west of Cleveland


The White County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Cleveland man in connection with a wreck that injured him and another driver Tuesday near Cleveland.

The accident occurred at 3:58 p.m. on Jan. 7 at the intersection of Georgia Highway 115 and the Appalachian Parkway.

25-year old Johathan Pugh was cited for failing to obey a traffic signal. According to the accident report, he was traveling west on GA-115 and ran a red light. His car struck the passenger side of a car passing through the intersection driven by 62-year old Nivia Calcinore of Hiawassee.

Both drivers were injured and transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment.

Deputies also charged Pugh for not wearing his seatbelt.
