Driver unhurt in rollover wreck near Mt. Airy

A driver was briefly trapped inside her vehicle but unhurt following a rollover wreck near Mt. Airy Monday evening.

The female driver, whose name authorities have not yet released, wrecked on GA 197 South at Hazel Creek Road. The vehicle overturned down an embankment and landed on its roof.

At 6:17 p.m. on Nov. 13, a caller reported the wreck to Habersham County E-911

A county EMS unit and sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash.

According to the sheriff’s office, the female occupant of the Buick passenger car was briefly unable to get out of the vehicle.

Highway 197 was closed until 7:10 p.m. while the car was removed and the road was cleaned up.
