Coroner identifies driver killed in Hollywood wreck

Authorities have released the name of the driver killed in a wreck on GA 15/US 441 South in northern Habersham County.

According to County Coroner Kasey McEntire, Ginger Steadman of Commerce died of blunt force injuries sustained in the single-vehicle wreck. The 55-year old Steadman was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Demorest where she was pronounced dead.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Steadman family at this difficult time,” said McEntire.

GSP investigating

Emergency crews were dispatched to the wreck just after 4 p.m. on September 18. According to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, Steadman’s vehicle left the road, traveled down an embankment, and struck a tree. The crash occurred near Hollywood Hills Road.

One southbound lane of the highway at the scene was shut down until just after 5:20 p.m.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the wreck. Now Habersham has reached out to GSP for more information and will update this story when new information is released.
