The Georgia State Patrol has identified the two people arrested in connection with a high-speed chase that ran through Stephens and Habersham counties on Saturday. Hershel Bjorn Bramble, 28, of McDonough, and Kerry Senior, 32, of Bronx, New York, were taken into custody by Habersham County deputies several hours after they fled from law enforcement.
Habersham County deputies stopped the rented Porsche Bramble was driving on GA 365 in Alto around 11 p.m. Saturday.
Bramble faces multiple traffic violations in both counties, including two felonies for attempting to elude a police officer. In Stephens County, he’s also charged with reckless driving and aggravated assault.
Georgia State Patrol Post 7 Commander Donnie Saddler tells Now Habersham Bramble was charged with assault for intentionally trying to strike two trooper vehicles with the Porsche.
Senior was detained by deputies but released from the Habersham County Detention Center.
Troopers lost contact with fleeing car
The incident began Saturday evening when a trooper from Post 7 in Toccoa clocked the Porsche Panamera going 94 mph in a 55 mph zone on GA 365 in Stephens County.
When the trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to yield, according to Saddler.
“The Porsche was making a U-turn from the southbound traffic onto the northbound traffic. The car reached over 100 mph before two more troopers took over the chase,” he says.
Both troopers chased the vehicle south on GA 365. They followed the Porsche when it turned right onto GA 184/Dicks Hill Parkway. The chase ran into Habersham County, where witnesses reported seeing it pass by Hazel Grove Elementary School and through Mt. Airy toward Cornelia.
“Both troopers lost contact with the vehicle due to the heavy resident area within Habersham County,” says Saddler.
Habersham County deputies were briefly involved in the chase, according to sheriff’s office spokesperson Rob Moore. Troopers from Georgia State Patrol Post 52 in Hartwell also assisted. The state patrol called off the pursuit before 8:15 p.m. Hours later, deputies located and stopped the vehicle on GA 365 at Crane Mill Road.
Saddler says the Porsche was rented from the Atlanta area.
