A judge set bond at $23,250 for a Cornelia driver arrested following a wreck that seriously injured him and his passenger.
Authorities say Israel Valentine Ramirez was behind the wheel when the vehicle ran off the road and overturned on Cannon Bridge Road/GA 105 Saturday night, Nov. 25.
Ramirez, 36, faces multiple counts, including a felony charge of serious injury by vehicle. Deputies also charged Ramirez with DUI, reckless driving, possession of an open alcohol container, driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain lane and a seatbelt violation.
The single-vehicle wreck near Old Cleveland Road seriously injured Ramirez and his passenger, Remington Bowling, the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office says. An ambulance transported both of them to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville.
Bowling faces charges of open alcohol container and a seatbelt violation, says Sgt. Kris Hall with the sheriff’s office.
A 36-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was not hurt.
Deputies booked Ramirez at the Habersham County Detention Center early Monday, Nov. 27 after he was released from the hospital.
