One lucky driver and two young passengers were able to walk away from a rollover wreck Saturday night in Cornelia. Authorities say weather conditions contributed to the crash. It was raining heavily when the Toyota Corolla Matrix ran off the road in a curve on Wilson Road near the Cornelia reservoir.

According to a report released Monday by the Georgia State Patrol, 28-year-old Leticia Martin Jose was traveling south on Wilson Road. Troopers say Jose was driving too fast for conditions. The car traveled off the west shoulder of the road, ran down an embankment, struck a fence and overturned.

Two children, ages 6 and 9, were traveling with Jose in the vehicle. No one was hurt, officials say.

The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. on May 20. Habersham County Emergency Services and units from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, Cornelia Fire Department, and Cornelia Police Department responded to the scene.

State troopers from Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa investigated the crash. They charged Jose with failure to maintain lane and driving too fast for conditions.
