Driver airlifted to hospital after car crashes into creek

A medical flight crew airlifted a Demorest woman to the hospital in Gainesville this morning after her car crashed into a creek in northern Habersham County.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old Camrin Rose Davis, called Habersham 911 at 8:27 a.m. Sunday advising she was off the road and in water. She was unsure of her exact location. She told dispatchers she thought she was possibly off Orchard Road.

First responders requested an AirLife chopper to transport the injured driver to the NEGMC Trauma Center in Gainesville. (HCES)

First responders from Habersham County Emergency Services found the injured woman dazed and confused inside her car. It had crashed into a creek at Orchard and Arrowhead Cove roads, says HCES director Chad Black. It took emergency crews a while to free Davis from the wreckage. Due to that and the far north location, first responders requested a helicopter transport.

AirLife 2 flew Davis to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Trauma Center in Gainesville where family members say she was treated and released.

The Georgia State Patrol investigated the wreck. The GSP report says Davis was traveling south on Orchard Road in a 2004 KIA Rio when she traveled across the centerline and northbound lane and off the east shoulder of the road. Her car traveled down an embankment, striking a large boulder and downed tree before crashing into the creek.

The Trooper issued Davis a warning for failure to maintain lane.
