Dorothy Coley Autry, age 93, of Alto, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.
Mrs. Autry was born on January 30, 1931, in Habersham County, Georgia, to the late Cleveland C. and Francis Arlevy Wade Coley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Grady Autry; sisters Esther Coley Dodd, Baney Coley Reems, Dimie Coley Lomax, Delia Coley King, and Izora Coley Myers; and brothers Leet Coley and Columbus Coley. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Dorothy was a member of the Alto Congregational Holiness Church, where she taught Sunday School for over 30 years. As a homemaker, she poured her heart and soul into creating a warm and welcoming home for her family. Dorothy possessed a remarkable talent for sewing and was a talented seamstress. One of Dorothy’s greatest pastimes was found in her garden, which brought joy to her life.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Shelia Autry Blackburn and Jerry, of Carlton; Jerry Lee Autry, of Alto; Jeanie Aurty Sims and Michael, of Cleveland; grandchildren and their spouses, Jason Blackburn and Quincey; Shannon Blackburn and Susan; Anthony Sims and Brittney; Kriston Sims Mauldin and Tim; thirteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Alto Congregational Holiness Church with Pastor Scott Ledbetter officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2024 at the Whitfield Funeral Homes, South Chapel
