Doris Ann Johnson Ivester, age 78, of Clarkesville, took her heavenly flight home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
Doris Ann was born on August 4, 1946, in Franklin, North Carolina. She was a 1964 graduate of Franklin High School. She and her late husband owned Ivester Auto Sales for many years. While she loved everyone, her family was her life and they will remember her as a loving mother, Mamaw, and sister. She was the Queen of the Hallmark Channel, who liked to travel and was a wonderful cook. Doris Ann was a member of Turnerville Church of God. She enjoyed attending church services, singing, playing the piano, and listening to gospel music.
She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Ora Evelyn Cheek Wykle and Frank C. Wykle; husband of 50 years, Edward Lee Ivester; granddaughter, Sarah Ivester Burroughs; great-grandson, Gregory Brandon Ivester, Jr.; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Martha Cheek.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Gregory & Leslie Michelle Ivester of Cornelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela Doris & Harold Chambers of Lula and Cheryl Ivester Sumpter & Tony Sumpter of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Brandon Ivester (Susan), Jeremy Dean, Jeff Dean, Haley Goss (Eric), Brad Sumpter (Rosemary Huff), Chase Ivester, Danny Chambers, and Christy Everette (Jay); seventeen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard & Judy Johnson of Turnerville and Eddie & Sue Wykle of Lakemont; sister and brother-in-law, Janie & Claude Waldroop of Franklin, North Carolina; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives; a host of friends, including special friend, Jason Black.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Turnerville Church of God, with Pastor Robert Lawson, Bishop Kevin Magness, and Evangelist Hank Conner officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Evangelist David Hastings and Pastor Matthew Calvert officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the funeral home.
