Donovan leads women’s golf to third place at Transylvania Fall Invitational

In the opening event of the season, the Piedmont University women’s golf team finished third overall, led by Erin Donovan’s all-tournament performance. Donovan finished tied at the top but lost in a playoff to finish second overall at the Transylvania Fall Invitational in Kentucky.

Donovan was the leader after round one with a 72, her best round of the tournament. Donovan carded a 75 in round two and a 78 to end the tournament.

Her all-tournament finish builds on her successful freshman campaign, which featured five all-tournament finishes.

Sarah Fox finished second for Piedmont with one round in the 70s, carding an 86 to end the tournament. Savannah Barefoot turned in her best round of the invitational in round three with a 76. Barefoot finished just one stroke back of Fox in the 54-hole tournament.

Freshman Keegan Goins began her career with a 77 in round one and ended with a 94 on day two. Shelby Clark turned in two counting scores with a 79 and a 78.

Caitlyn Chilito competed as an individual and shaved strokes off in each round, ending with an 86 in round three.

The Lions will return to the course on Monday, September 18 at the Rhodes Classic.
