The City of Clarkesville is bringing a dog park to the downtown area’s infrastructure, planned to be completed within the year, turning a previously unusable piece of property into a new place for Clarkesville’s furry friends to enjoy.

The piece of property behind Your Pie in Clarkesville, which is unusable for any kind of building or paving due to levelness and water mitigation, will become a dog park for residents to bring their dogs. The park will be spilt into two fenced-in areas: one for big dogs and one for small dogs. The park will include water fountains for both people and their dogs, as well as equipment for the dogs to play on.

“We’re just trying to do something with an unusable piece of property,” City Manager Keith Dickerson said. The city manager also hopes to have a sidewalk leading up to, and going around, the dog park.

The dog park is estimated to be completed around the end of June, but that date is subject to change.
