The Alpha Gamma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met on Saturday, April 24, at Mt. Airy City Hall and presented two scholarships of $500 to two local education majors.
Carissa Carson, an education major at Truett McConnell College, received a $500 scholarship. Carissa will be teaching 7th grade at Wilbanks Middle School in Habersham County for the 2021-2022 school year. Carissa and her husband live in Alto, Georgia.
Amelia Lathem was also a recipient of a $500 scholarship. Amelia, a resident of Clarkesville, is a sophomore at Brenau University and is pursuing a degree in music education.
The Alpha Gamma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma awards scholarships to students enrolled in education major programs to assist in the development of quality educators.
DKG International is a professional honorary organization of women educators. Established in 1929, The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.
Membership is by invitation only and is considered a prestigious honor with a variety of benefits and privileges. The Alpha Gamma Chapter is comprised of educators from Banks, Jackson, Habersham, and Stephens Counties.
