A discarded cigarette started a fire that resulted in some damage to a residence in White County Monday. Several fire units were originally dispatched to 1271 Panorama Drive in Sautee around 1: 20 PM.
White County Public Safety Director David Murphy said a man tossed a cigarette by accident into some leaves and it caught the leaves on fire, which then spread to a nearby deck. Murphy described where the damage occurred, “The deck area and some of the vinyl siding on the front of the house, it got pretty hot there,” said Murphy.
Murphy noted that the wind help spread the fire.
No one was injured and most responding units were canceled after first units on scene was able to control the fire.
