71-year old Charlie Stockton of Demorest escaped injury when he pulled into the path of an oncoming car Monday night at the intersection of East Side Drive and Hwy. 441/GA 385.

As Now Habersham first reported the wreck happened shortly after 6 p.m. Monday, November 17, near the intersection of Highway 441/GA 385 and East Side Drive. The Georgia State Patrol says 19-year old Ariel Bruce of Jefferson was driving a 2013 Ford Focus northbound without headlights when 71-year old Charles Stockton of Demorest attempted to turn left onto East Side Drive. Stockton’s 1986 Toyota pick-up truck struck Bruce’s car on the left side.

Bruce and one of the three passengers in her car, 18-year old Katlyn Hallman of Young Harris, were both injured. Bruce was transported to Habersham Medical Center by ambulance with lower extremity injuries. Hallman complained of neck injuries. The other two passengers, 19-year old Peyton Carlisle of Winterville and 18-year old Raven Champion of Powder Springs were uninjured. A witness who spoke with Bruce immediately after the accident says all four are students at Piedmont College.

Stockton was uninjured in the wreck.

The GSP says Bruce was issued a warning about driving without headlights.
