A Demorest resident is $50,000 richer after winning a lottery prize in the January 29 Powerball drawing. The lucky player came within one number of winning the jackpot but still walked away with a hefty payout.
According to the Georgia Lottery Commission, the man purchased the winning ticket on the Georgia Lottery mobile app. The ticket matched four of the five white balls and the red Powerball, missing the $71 million jackpot.
The winning numbers for the January 29 drawing were 8-12-31-33-38, with a red Powerball of 18. The Power Play multiplier for the drawing was 3x.

While no one won the jackpot in the January 29 drawing, there were no winners of the $1 million or $2 million secondary prizes either. The Powerball jackpot has now grown to an estimated $100 million. The next drawing is on Monday, Feb. 3.
