In their effort to make the safety of Georgia law enforcement officers a priority, the Georgia Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) donated seven bulletproof vests, valued at over $4,200, to the Demorest Police Department preceding the city council’s Feb. 2 meeting.

“So far, we’ve given out 965 vests to about 165 agencies statewide,” said Mountain Lodge FOP President and State Trustee Michael Palmer. “We all do this through the Georgia Fraternal Order of Police Foundation. This is in-kind donations […] from the Fraternal Order of Police.”

These threat-level three vests are the most protective bulletproof vests offered, costing about $600 each. (nowhabersham.com)

Palmer represents nearly 100 law enforcement officers in Northeast Georgia at the Mountain Lodge location for the FOP. His mission is to get these bulletproof vests to as many officers as possible for added safety.

The FOP is a non-profit charity providing support to Georgia law enforcement officers. It runs “Operation Protect our Protectors,” a program to donate ballistic vests to police departments in need. The FOP donated these vests to the Alto Police Department in November.

The vests are the highest-quality protection of bulletproof vests available and have saved thousands of lives. Now, Demorest Police and their families can rest assured that they’re safer on the job.
