Demorest man jailed on drug charges

A messed up tail light and drug-sniffing dog led to a Demorest man’s arrest on drug charges.

White County deputies arrested 36-year-old Jarred William Seabolt following a traffic stop on the evening of August 28 on Duncan Bridge Road. Deputies pulled over the Ford F-150 Seabolt was driving because of a brake light violation, investigators say.

During the traffic stop, a K9 conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle and alerted. During the search, several drugs were located, including crack cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, and over 4 grams of fentanyl, according to a news release from White County Sheriff Rick Kelley.

Agents with the GBI’s Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) assisted with the investigation. In addition to possession charges, authorities charged Seabolt with trafficking illegal drugs.

As of August 29, he remained in the White County Detention Center without bond.

Seabolt’s arrest in White County came the same day he was released from the Habersham County jail on similar charges.

Habersham deputies arrested Seabolt on August 25 and charged him with drug possession and weapons charges. Seabolt, a convicted felon, was released from the Habersham County Detention Center on August 28 on a $15,800 bond.
