During the May 4 City of Demorest meeting, the council unanimously voted to refund Breaking Chains Ministry’s Freedom Hill Recovery Home a total of $10,609 after a sewer services misunderstanding.
The issue was first discussed at the City of Demorest’s Apr. 27 work session, where it was brought to the council’s attention that Freedom Hill Recovery Home and the city had both been under the impression that they were receiving sewage services from Demorest. However, the women’s recovery center recently found they were utilizing a septic tank.
After legalities of the refund were cleared between the work session and the regular meeting, the council voted unanimously to refund the ministry in full for the mishap.
The city also cast a unanimous vote to hire the services of BatesCarter to work on the city’s audits in September of 2021.
