On Tuesday, January 5, 2016, the City of Demorest will hold a new election, to replace the one on November 3, 2015, which left candidates Donnie Bennett and John Popham with only a one-vote difference. That election, though, upon petition by several voters to state court, was judged “in error” due to one voter voting twice.
The replacement election on January 5 will include only the names of Bennett and Popham, both candidates for one “at large” city council seat.
There will be no voting on any other candidates or issues at that time.
