The Demorest City Council will be making a proclamation during their work session Tuesday for the Demorest Elementary School’s fourth graders that were awarded state champions in a reading contest this past February. It is anticipated that many of the students and their families will attend the meeting to hear the proclamation from Demorest Mayor Jerry Harkness.
The city recognized the fourth graders recently with a surprise pizza party in their classroom at school.
The council will consider the entertainment for the city’s Glorious Fourth celebration this summer. Staff has recommended country music artist John Berry for this year’s entertainment. His hits include “Your love amazes me,” “Kiss me in the car,” and “ You and only you.”
They will also consider extending their land use moratorium while they update their land use ordinance.
The Demorest City Council will meet for their work session at 6:00 p.m. and their regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. Both meetings will be held in the Demorest Municipal Conference Room at 250 Alabama Street in Demorest.
