Passenger dies from injuries after deer crashes through windshield

A 72-year-old woman who was seriously injured Saturday, June 29, when a deer crashed through the windshield of an SUV she was riding in has died. Ellen Fiorenza of Conyers passed away Monday afternoon, July 1, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville from her injuries, said Habersham County Coroner Kasey McEntire.

Georgia State Patrol spokesperson TFC2 Joshua Staff said Fiorenza was a passenger in a Toyota Venza traveling north on Ga. 15 / Expressway 441 near Tom Born Road. The deer ran in front of the vehicle, struck it, and was thrown through the windshield.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Ms. Fiorenza’s family and friends and with all those impacted,” McEntire said.

Habersham EMS transported the Conyers woman to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

The driver, Brian Daniels, 46, of Atlanta, was not injured.
