Deal endorses Crawford in District 4 commission race

Former Georgia governor Nathan Deal has endorsed incumbent Habersham County Commissioner Natalie Crawford in her re-election bid.

In a statement issued by Crawford’s campaign on Tuesday Deal says, “I’ve watched Natalie tirelessly serve her community these past eight years. She is the conservative, strong leader that Habersham needs during these difficult times.”

Crawford says she’s honored to receive Deal’s endorsement. “I have such great respect and appreciation for Governor Deal and the First Lady. It is truly an honor to receive this endorsement and it’s been such a blessing to have their support my previous campaigns.”

Commissioner Crawford is seeking a third term. She faces opposition in the June 9 GOP primary from Cornelia businessman Trent Davis and Demorest attorney Bruce Harkness. Crawford is running on her conservative record and her experience which she says will be “critical in the coming months.”

Two other seats on the five-member board are up for election. The average length of service by the remaining county commissioners is two years. In addition to the ongoing pandemic, Crawford points to key local issues as reasons why county residents need seasoned leadership. Among them, the future of Habersham Medical Center, the pending contract on the old county courthouse, the ongoing discussion about the need for a new jail, and SPLOST.

“Representing and serving the citizens of Habersham is one of my greatest passions,” says Crawford. “With a third and final term, I’m excited to keep that momentum going and make sure that Habersham is prepared to navigate these uncertain times.”
