Republican State Representative Kevin Tanner today threw his hat into the ring to run for Congress. Tanner announced his candidacy for the 9th district congressional seat currently held by Doug Collins who is running for U.S. Senate.
In his announcement, Tanner said, “there is too much at stake in our country to sit on the sidelines.” He referenced “impeachment nonsense” and support for President Trump’s wall among his reasons for running. He also accused House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and certain members of the Democratic Caucus with “trying to destroy our values” and vowed to work alongside Trump to protect conservative values.
“I am ready to continue our district’s 27 year history of having conservative leadership in Congress,” said Tanner.
Tanner has been in the state legislature for seven years where he serves as chairman of the House Transportation Committee. He’s also a member of the House Appropriations and Education committees.
He previously served as Chief Deputy of the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office and Dawson County Manager. Tanner is a licensed light commercial contractor and poultry farmer who also owns a security company and real estate investment firm.
