David Norton, age 62 of Mt. Airy passed away December 15, 2016.
Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on November 15, 1954, he was a son of the late Melvin & Stella Mae Burrell Norton. Mr. Norton was employed with Georgia Power as a substation operator for almost 35 years and he was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed the mountains, riding motorcycles, traveling, eating BBQ, and spending time with family and friends, especially his granddaughter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Doug Norton and granddaughter Kathryn Claire Norton.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha Humphries Norton of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Charles & Lisa Norton of Cornelia; son, Eric Norton of Mt. Airy; granddaughter, Sadie Mae Norton of Cornelia; sister-in-law, Sue Norton of Alabaster, AL; nephew, Christopher Norton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. John & Zelma Humphries.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2016 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. James Lyons and Pastor Adam Humphries officiating. Interment will follow in Habersham Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
