Hot and humid conditions are expected to dominate Georgia this week. An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect Tuesday across parts of North and Central Georgia, and a Heat Advisory is in effect for much of the rest of the state.

Heat index values on Monday are expected to range from 100 to 110 degrees.

Widespread showers and storms are expected to develop, particularly over the mountains early then foothills later in the evening. A few storms could become strong, but there is currently no organized severe risk for the region. Gusty winds, small hail and heavy rains are possible with any stronger storms.

The unsettled pattern continues Thursday and Friday, with highs in the upper 80s and more rounds of afternoon storms expected. A big break from the heat comes from a cold front this weekend.

With this dangerous heat, take extra precautions if you must be outdoors. Stay hydrated, seek shade, and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.
