A Cornelia man suffered suspected serious injuries when the bicycle he was riding was clipped from behind by an approaching SUV. The crash Wednesday on Old Cleveland Road in Habersham County injured 47-year-old Celso Moraes of Cornelia.

State troopers say a southbound Honda CRV struck the left rear side of the Bianchi bike Moraes was riding. The impact knocked him over onto the shoulder of the roadway.

The state patrol says charges are pending against the driver, 68-year-old Ronald Earl Freeman of Clarkesville.

Troopers from Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa investigated the crash.
